Questions shops ask

Straight answers.

The things studios ask before they move. If yours isn’t here, ask a person.

How a shop works

Our artists are independent. Does that fit?
It’s the shape it was built for. Each artist has their own login, calendar, requests and earnings, and access to their customer records. The studio sees the roll-up and runs the payouts: revenue share and tips, by period.
Most of our customers pay cash or e-transfer.
Record it against the booking and it counts like any other payment. The price agreed for the piece is the truth; how it was paid is a detail the ledger keeps. Payouts follow the price, not the card machine.
What happens when an artist leaves?
You deactivate their login. Their past bookings and payouts stay on the studio’s records. Artist client-list export isn’t available yet.
Do our customers need an account?
No. Anyone can book as a guest. A customer who wants to see their appointments, receipts and balance sets a password later; nobody is made to.
We do a lot of walk-ins.
The desk books them straight onto the calendar, with the same deposit and waiver as an online request. Aftercare and merch go through the same register.

Money

What does it cost?
Three plans by the size of the shop, from $79 a month. Every plan is the whole product; 30 days free, no card to start. The pricing page has the numbers and the fees.
Can we keep our card processor?
If it’s Helcim, yes. Stipple runs on your own Helcim account, online and on the PIN pad, at Helcim’s rates with nothing on top. If it’s Stripe, connect it. If it’s Square, no: bring your customers across and take cards through Helcim or Stripe.
How do deposits work for custom pieces?
The artist proposes a date and a deposit; the customer pays it from the email and the booking is confirmed. The deposit sits against that session, survives a reschedule, and lands in the artist’s payout as itself.
And refunds?
A refunded deposit reverses against the payout, so nobody is paid twice or short. Cancelling and refunding is one screen.

Data and trust

Who owns the data?
The studio owns the studio’s; each artist owns their book. We host it and we don’t sell it. An admin can export the studio’s customer list. Artist client-list export isn’t available yet.
Is it Canadian?
Yes. Built in Canada, priced in dollars, tax by province, and Canadian privacy law applies to how we handle your customers’ information. Consent for texts is captured the way the law here asks.
Where do the texts come from?
Reminders and confirmations are sent by text and email. Texts go out from a Stipple number and open with your studio’s name; customers can opt out by replying.
Can we use our own web address?
You get yourshop.getstipple.app the moment the studio exists. If you already have a booking address on your own domain, we’ll point it at your studio. Ask us.
Is there an app?
It works in the browser on any phone, and you can add it to the home screen like an app. Staff can sign in with Face ID or a fingerprint.
French?
English only, today.
